How to Find Your MT4 Server Name
BY TIOmarkets
|June 10, 2026The MT4 server name is the address MetaTrader 4 uses to connect to TIOmarkets's trading infrastructure. It is paired with your account number and password as the three pieces of information needed to log in. The server name is set by TIOmarkets when the account is created, and different account types or environments (demo vs live) may use different servers.
This guide covers five ways to locate your MT4 server name: the title bar of an already-logged-in MT4 session, the Navigator window's account properties, the Login dialog, the TIOmarkets client area, and the original registration email. It also explains how to find the server name on MT4 mobile and the difference between demo and live servers.
Why You Might Need Your Server Name
The server name is required any time MT4 needs to establish a connection to TIOmarkets. Common situations include:
- Logging into MT4 for the first time on a new computer.
- Setting up MT4 mobile to mirror your desktop account.
- Logging into the MT4 web platform.
- Reinstalling MT4 after a system change.
- Adding the same account to a second MT4 instance.
- Contacting TIOmarkets support about server-related issues.
The server name is typically a string containing the broker name and a designation such as "Demo" or "Live," sometimes with additional identifiers. The exact server name is specific to your account and is supplied by TIOmarkets.
Method 1: Check the MT4 Title Bar
If you are already logged into MT4, the title bar at the top of the platform shows the server name in square brackets.
The title bar follows roughly this format:
[account number]: [account holder name] - [account type] - [server name in brackets] - MetaTrader 4
The portion inside the square brackets is the server name. For example, if the title bar reads "1234567: John Smith - Demo Account - [SomeServerName] - MetaTrader 4," the server name is SomeServerName.
The exact format varies slightly between MT4 builds, but the server name is always shown in square brackets immediately before "MetaTrader 4" in the title.
Method 2: Use the Navigator Window and Account Properties
The Navigator window's Accounts node provides the server name for every account MT4 has connected to.
Open the Navigator with Ctrl+N. Expand the Accounts node. Right-click on the account whose server you want to check, and select Properties from the context menu. A dialog appears showing the account number, the server, and other details.
This method is useful when checking the server for an account other than the currently active one, without needing to log into it first.
Method 3: Look in the Login Dialog
The Login dialog shows server names you have used before.
Open the dialog via File > Login to Trade Account. The Server field at the top shows the currently selected server, and clicking the dropdown reveals other servers MT4 has previously connected to.
If you click into the field, you can also start typing to filter the list to servers containing those letters. This is helpful when MT4 has connected to several servers and you want to find a specific one quickly.
Method 4: Check the TIOmarkets Client Area
The TIOmarkets client area is the web portal where account information is managed. Logging in there gives you a list of every TIOmarkets account associated with your registration, including the server for each one.
The client area is accessed through your TIOmarkets profile login. The account section typically displays each account with its number, type, and server.
This method is useful when you have lost access to MT4 itself or need to confirm the server for an account you have not yet logged into.
Method 5: Search Your Registration Email
When you register an account with TIOmarkets, an email is sent containing the credentials needed to log in. This email includes the server name, account number, and master password.
Search your email inbox for messages from TIOmarkets. If nothing appears in your inbox, check the spam or junk folder. Many email providers route automated registration emails there by default.
The original registration email is the authoritative source for the server name. The server name is case-sensitive in MT4 and must be entered exactly as shown in the email.
Finding It on MT4 Mobile
The MT4 mobile app for iOS and Android displays the server name alongside the account number in the accounts management section.
On iOS: Settings > Manage Accounts. Each connected account shows its server.
On Android: Menu > Manage Accounts. The list includes the server for each account.
When adding a new account to mobile MT4, the server is selected from a list of brokers and their servers, or entered manually if not in the list. The list view varies between builds.
Demo vs Live Servers
TIOmarkets typically operates separate servers for demo and live accounts. A demo account's credentials will not work on a live server, and a live account's credentials will not work on a demo server.
When in doubt about which server a particular account uses, check the registration email for that specific account. The server name is account-specific.
If you have both a demo and a live account, each has its own credentials and its own server. They appear as separate entries in the Navigator > Accounts list.
A common error during first-time login is to enter live account credentials against a demo server (or the other way around). The result is an "Invalid Account" error. The server in the Login dialog and the credentials in the email must match.
Practical Considerations
Server names in MT4 are typically case-sensitive. Use copy and paste from the registration email to avoid typos.
When typing a server name manually, include any hyphens or dashes shown in the email. A server name with a missing or extra hyphen will not be resolved.
If the server name in the Login dialog dropdown is not the same as the one in your email, the account may have been migrated to a different server. Use the server name from the registration email; if that does not work, contact TIOmarkets to confirm the current server.
The MT4 platform requires an internet connection to reach the server. A firewall, VPN, or restricted network may block the connection even when the server name is correct.
Trading at TIOmarkets
TIOmarkets offers MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 on desktop, web, and mobile, across four account types. The Standard account is created automatically on registration with a minimum deposit of $20 or currency equivalent. The Raw and VIP Black accounts are opened separately through the client area. The Nano account is MT5 only with a $20 minimum deposit, USD only. Hedging is supported on all accounts. A swap-free Islamic account is available; contact TIOmarkets for eligibility and instrument requirements. Copy trading is available on both MT4 and MT5.
Orders are executed at the best available market price, which may result in positive or negative slippage. Demo accounts often execute instantly and may not fully replicate live slippage conditions. Spreads are variable and are typically higher than minimum figures shown. Leverage on each instrument is subject to change depending on market conditions and applicable regulatory requirements.
