How to See Open Trades on MT4 Mobile
BY TIOmarkets
|June 10, 2026The MT4 mobile app gives you on-the-go access to your open positions and pending orders. The Trade tab is the central view for monitoring active trades, with a real-time account summary at the top and a list of open positions below. Whether you opened the positions on the desktop platform, the web platform, or the mobile app itself, they appear in the same view because your account synchronises across all three.
This guide covers where to find open trades on MT4 mobile, the layout of the Trade tab, how to tap a position for full details, where pending orders appear, the differences between the mobile view and the desktop Terminal, and notes on iOS versus Android.
Locating the Trade Tab
The MT4 mobile app has a bottom navigation bar with several tabs. The exact order can differ slightly between iOS and Android, but the tabs typically include:
Quotes (the mobile equivalent of Market Watch, listing symbols with bid and ask prices)
Charts
Trade
History
News
Settings (sometimes accessed via a "More" menu)
To see your open trades, tap the Trade tab.
Trade Tab Layout
The Trade tab is divided into three vertical sections.
At the top is the account summary, showing key real-time metrics: Balance, Equity, Free Margin, Margin Level, and Profit. These are the same figures shown at the bottom of the desktop Terminal's Trade tab. Balance is the realised cash value of the account; Equity is Balance plus floating P&L on open positions; Margin Level is the ratio of Equity to Used Margin expressed as a percentage.
Below the summary is the Positions section, listing all open positions. Each row shows the position's symbol, volume, open price, current price, and floating P&L. Further details such as Stop Loss, Take Profit, and swap may require tapping the row to see the full panel.
Below the Positions section is the Orders section, listing all pending orders (Buy Limit, Sell Limit, Buy Stop, Sell Stop). Each row shows the order's symbol, type, volume, and trigger price.
The visible columns and exact order of fields may vary by build of MetaTrader 4 on mobile and by device orientation.
Reading a Position Row
Each open position row typically shows:
Symbol: the instrument. On MT4 at TIOmarkets, forex symbols use a "z" suffix (for example, EURUSDz, GBPUSDz, USDJPYz).
Direction and volume: shown as "buy 0.10" or "sell 0.10" alongside the symbol, indicating direction and lot size.
Open price: the price at which the position entered.
Current price: the live bid (for long positions) or ask (for short positions).
P&L (profit/loss): the floating gain or loss on the position in the account currency, including swap.
To see additional fields like Stop Loss, Take Profit, swap, commission, and the order ticket number, tap the position row. A details panel slides up showing the full position information.
Tapping a Position for Actions
Tapping a position opens its details and gives access to actions. The available actions typically include:
Modify: change the Stop Loss and Take Profit.
Close Order: close the entire position, or change the Volume field to close a portion.
Trade Type or Properties: view the full ticket details.
Chart: jump directly to the chart of the position's symbol.
Mobile-specific gestures may include swipe-to-close or swipe-to-modify, depending on the build.
Pending Orders in the Mobile View
The Orders section below the Positions list shows pending orders. Each pending order row shows the symbol, the pending type (Buy Limit, Sell Limit, Buy Stop, Sell Stop), volume, and trigger price. Tap a pending order to see its full details, modify the trigger price, SL, TP, or expiry, or delete the order.
Pending orders do not consume margin; only open positions do. So the Margin Level shown in the account summary at the top is based only on margin held against currently open positions.
Refreshing and Sorting
To refresh the Trade tab, pull down from the top of the list (a standard mobile pull-to-refresh gesture). The app also refreshes automatically at short intervals while connected.
Sorting options may be available via column headers or a sort menu, depending on the build. The default sort is typically by open time, most recent first.
Differences Between Mobile and Desktop Terminal
The mobile Trade tab is a streamlined version of the desktop Terminal window.
Mobile shows positions and pending orders in one tab. Desktop has separate tabs (Trade, Exposure, Account History, and others) accessed by clicking tab headers at the top of the Terminal.
Mobile does not show all columns at once due to screen space. Tap a row for full details. Desktop shows all columns at once in a wider table.
Mobile does not have a Mailbox, Experts, or Journal tab visible in the same place as desktop. These are typically accessed separately, often under Settings or a Mailbox menu.
Mobile uses the same login credentials as desktop. Open the Settings tab > New Account or Login to Existing Account to switch between live and demo accounts.
iOS vs Android Notes
Both iOS and Android versions of MT4 mobile have the same Trade tab function, but UI specifics differ.
On iOS, the bottom tab bar shows the standard tabs and the Settings tab is accessed by tapping More if not visible.
On Android, the bottom navigation is typically the same set of tabs, though the visual style follows Android conventions.
Both versions are free to download (App Store on iOS, Google Play on Android) and support iPhone, iPad, and Android phones and tablets.
Practical Considerations
The account synchronises automatically with your desktop and web MT4 accounts. Positions opened on any platform appear in all platforms in real time, as long as the device has an active internet connection.
MT4 and MT5 mobile use different apps. They are not cross-compatible: an MT4 account login does not work on the MT5 app, and vice versa.
EAs (Expert Advisors) do not execute on mobile. If you have an EA running on a desktop MT4, the positions it opens or manages appear on mobile as standard positions, but you cannot start, stop, or configure the EA from the mobile app.
The MT4 mobile app does not have a built-in strategy tester. Trailing stops on MT4 are processed client-side by the desktop terminal only; they are not available on mobile.
Demo accounts can be used on mobile in exactly the same way as live accounts: log in with your demo credentials and the Trade tab shows demo positions.
Trading at TIOmarkets

The Nano account is MT5 only with a $20 minimum deposit, USD only. Hedging is supported on all accounts. A swap-free Islamic account is available; contact TIOmarkets for eligibility and instrument requirements. Copy trading is available on both MT4 and MT5.
