Forex Trading on Mobile (2026): How to Trade from Your Phone with MT4 & MT5

BY TIOmarkets

|February 25, 2026

Mobile trading has become one of the most common ways traders access the forex market. Whether you are monitoring open positions on the go, executing trades away from your desk, or managing your account from a smartphone or tablet, having a reliable mobile trading setup matters.

This guide covers how to trade forex on mobile using the MT4 and MT5 apps with TIOmarkets, what each app offers, and what to be aware of when trading from a phone.

Which Trading Apps Does TIOmarkets Support?

TIOmarkets supports two trading platforms: MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5). Both are available as mobile apps for iOS and Android, and both are free to download. You log in to the app using your TIOmarkets account credentials, giving you access to the same account you use on desktop or web.

Neither app is a proprietary TIOmarkets application. MT4 and MT5 are developed by MetaQuotes and are widely used across the industry. This means the interface, functionality, and general experience are consistent with what traders familiar with these platforms will already know.

MT4 Mobile App

Availability

The MT4 mobile app is available for iOS devices via the App Store and for Android devices via Google Play. Search for "MetaTrader 4" or follow the download link from the TIOmarkets MT4 page at tiomarkets.com/mt4.

What the MT4 Mobile App Includes

Based on the feature specifications published on the TIOmarkets MT4 page, the mobile app includes:

30 built-in technical indicators. The same indicator count as the MT4 web version, covering the main categories used in technical analysis.

24 graphical objects. Drawing tools including trend lines, channels, shapes, and Fibonacci tools are available directly on mobile charts.

9 analytical timeframes. From one minute to one month, all standard MT4 timeframes are available on mobile.

3 chart types. Candlestick, bar, and line charts are supported.

Full order set. Market orders, limit orders, stop orders, and trailing stops can all be placed from the mobile app.

Real-time market data. Live prices are streamed to the app in real time.

Financial news and alerts. News and price alerts are available on the mobile version.

One-click trading. Available on the MT4 mobile app for fast order execution.

Hedging. The MT4 mobile app supports hedging, allowing multiple positions in the same instrument to be held simultaneously.

What the MT4 Mobile App Does Not Include

No Expert Advisors (EAs). Automated trading via EAs is not supported on the MT4 mobile app. EAs require the desktop version of MT4.

No copy trading. Copy trading is not available on mobile.

No strategy tester. Backtesting is not available on mobile.

No VPS. Virtual Private Server connectivity is a desktop-only feature.

MT5 Mobile App

Availability

The MT5 mobile app is available for iOS devices via the App Store and for Android devices via Google Play. Search for "MetaTrader 5" or follow the download link from the TIOmarkets platforms page at tiomarkets.com/platforms.

What the MT5 Mobile App Includes

Based on the feature specifications published on the TIOmarkets MT5 page, the mobile app includes:

30 built-in technical indicators. The same indicator count as the MT5 web version.

24 graphical objects. Drawing tools are available for chart analysis on mobile.

9 analytical timeframes. All standard timeframes from one minute to one month.

3 chart types. Candlestick, bar, and line charts.

Full order set. The full range of MT5 order types is available on mobile, including the additional order types that MT5 offers over MT4.

Real-time market data. Live prices streamed directly to the app.

Financial news and economic calendar. The MT5 mobile app includes access to financial news and the built-in economic calendar, which is one of the key differences between MT5 and MT4.

Push notifications. MT5 mobile supports push notifications for price alerts and account events.

Hedging. The MT5 mobile app supports hedging.

Market depth. Level 2 market depth data is available on the MT5 mobile app.

What the MT5 Mobile App Does Not Include

No automated trading. EA-based automated trading is not supported on MT5 mobile.

No copy trading. Copy trading is not available on the MT5 mobile app.

MT4 vs MT5 Mobile: Key Differences

Both apps offer a comparable mobile experience in terms of charting, order placement, and market data. The main differences worth noting are:

FeatureMT4 MobileMT5 Mobile
Technical indicators3030
Graphical objects2424
Timeframes99
Built-in economic calendarNoYes
Push notificationsYesYes
Market depthNoYes
One-click tradingYesYes
Automated trading (EAs)NoNo

The most meaningful practical differences on mobile are the MT5 economic calendar and market depth access, both of which are not available on MT4 mobile. For traders who rely on scheduled news events or want to see order book depth, MT5 mobile has an advantage. For traders who are already familiar with MT4 and do not need those features, MT4 mobile is equally capable for day-to-day trading.

Trading via Web Browser on Mobile

If you prefer not to download an app, both MT4 and MT5 are also available as web-based platforms that can be accessed from a mobile browser. No installation is required. You access the platform through a web browser on your phone or tablet and log in with your TIOmarkets credentials.

The web versions offer 30 indicators and 9 timeframes on both MT4 and MT5, with 3 chart types. Automated trading and the strategy tester are not available on either web version. The MT5 web version includes market depth access; the MT4 web version does not.

The web browser option is a useful fallback if you are on a device where you cannot install apps, or if you want quick access without switching between applications.

What to Consider When Trading Forex on Mobile

Mobile trading offers flexibility, but there are practical points worth keeping in mind.

The feature set is reduced compared to desktop. The mobile apps offer fewer indicators, fewer timeframes, and no automated trading compared to the desktop versions. Traders who rely heavily on custom indicators, EAs, or complex charting setups will need to use the desktop platform for those functions.

EAs cannot run on mobile. If you use Expert Advisors as part of your trading strategy, they must run on the desktop version of MT4 or MT5. An EA running on your desktop will continue to execute trades regardless of whether you are logged in on mobile, but it cannot be initiated or run from the mobile app alone.

Connectivity matters. Mobile trading depends on a stable internet connection. Trading on an unstable or slow connection can affect order execution. Using mobile data in areas with poor coverage introduces risk, particularly if you have open positions that require monitoring or rapid action.

Screen size affects analysis. Chart analysis on a small screen is more limited than on a desktop monitor. Many traders use mobile primarily for monitoring positions and executing straightforward orders, rather than detailed technical analysis.

Alerts and notifications can help. Both the MT4 and MT5 mobile apps support price alerts. Setting alerts for key levels means you do not need to watch charts continuously and can act when conditions change.
