How to Use the MT5 MQL5 Community
BY TIOmarkets
|June 10, 2026The MQL5 community is a MetaQuotes service integrated directly into MetaTrader 5. It provides access to a marketplace of trading tools, signal subscriptions, articles, code samples, freelance development, and virtual hosting, all from within the platform. A free MQL5 account is required to use these features.
This article explains what the MQL5 community is, how to create an account, how to access the various features from MT5, and what to keep in mind when using third-party tools and services available through the community.
What Is the MQL5 Community?
The MQL5 community is operated by MetaQuotes, the developer of MetaTrader. It is not a TIOmarkets service. The community brings together developers, traders, and signal providers using the MQL5 programming language and the MT5 platform.
The community provides several services, all accessible from inside MT5: the MQL5 Market (a marketplace for indicators, expert advisors, and scripts), Signals (subscription-based copy trading), Articles, Code Base (open-source MQL5 code), Freelance (custom development), Charts, Calendar (economic calendar), and Virtual Hosting (VPS).
MT5 has built-in community chat. MT4 does not include this feature, although MT4 users can still access some MQL5 community services such as the MQL5 Market.
How to Create an MQL5 Account
An MQL5 account is separate from your TIOmarkets trading account and is provided free of charge by MetaQuotes.
You can create an MQL5 account in two ways. The first is via the MQL5 website (mql5.com), where you can register and confirm your email.
The second is from within MT5. Go to Tools > Options > Community tab. Enter your desired login and password and click "Register" to create the account directly from the platform. Once created, you can also log in to your existing MQL5 account from the same tab.
After registering and logging in, the MQL5 community services become accessible from various parts of the MT5 interface.
Accessing the MQL5 Community from MT5
The community services are integrated into different parts of the MT5 interface.
The Toolbox window (Ctrl+T) contains several MQL5-related tabs: Calendar, Articles, Code Base, Signals, and Market. Each tab connects directly to the MQL5 community service.
The Navigator window (Ctrl+N) shows access to the MQL5 Market (under Market) and Signals (under Signals). You can browse and subscribe directly from here.
The Tools menu provides additional MQL5 community options, including chat and account management.
Key Features of the MQL5 Community
The community covers a wide range of services, each with its own use case.
MQL5 Market
The MQL5 Market is the marketplace where indicators, expert advisors, and scripts are bought and sold. Sellers list their products with descriptions, screenshots, and reviews. Buyers can browse, purchase, and download products directly to their MT5 platform.
Products are priced in USD. Some are paid; others are free. Many offer free demo versions that work only in the strategy tester or on a demo account.
TIOmarkets does not endorse, recommend, or take responsibility for any specific product on the MQL5 Market. Products are offered by third-party developers, and quality and reliability vary. Read reviews, check the seller's history, and consider running any purchase in the strategy tester or on a demo account before using it on a live account.
Signals
The MQL5 Signals service is MetaQuotes' built-in copy trading mechanism. Signal providers publish their trades, and subscribers can pay a monthly fee to have those trades copied to their account automatically.
This is separate from TIOmarkets' own copy trading service. The two systems operate independently. If you use MQL5 Signals, the trades are copied via the MetaQuotes infrastructure.
As with the MQL5 Market, TIOmarkets does not endorse specific signal providers. Past performance figures shown on signal pages do not predict future results.
Articles
The Articles section contains educational content written by MetaQuotes staff and the broader MQL5 developer community. Topics range from beginner tutorials on MetaTrader to advanced MQL5 programming. All articles are free to read.
Code Base
The Code Base is an open-source repository of MQL5 indicators, scripts, and expert advisors. Developers and traders share code that other users can download and modify. It is a useful resource for learning MQL5 by example.
Freelance
The Freelance section connects traders who want custom MQL5 development with MQL5 developers. Traders post jobs (for example, "develop an EA for this strategy"), and developers bid on the work. Payment is handled through the MQL5 platform.
Virtual Hosting (VPS)
Virtual Hosting is MetaQuotes' VPS service, allowing you to run MT5 and any attached EAs 24/7 on a server hosted by MetaQuotes. This is useful for traders who run expert advisors that need to be active continuously or whose trailing stops should keep updating even when the local terminal is closed.
A valid MQL5 community account is required to use Virtual Hosting. MetaQuotes automatically selects the geographically closest server to minimise latency. Access on MT5 by right-clicking your trading account in the Navigator window and selecting "Register a Virtual Server."
Virtual Hosting pricing is set by MetaQuotes and is paid directly to MetaQuotes rather than to TIOmarkets.
Community Chat
Built-in chat within MT5 lets MQL5 community members message each other directly from the platform. Chat is enabled when you log in to your MQL5 account in Tools > Options > Community.
Using the Community Responsibly
The MQL5 community includes services from many independent providers. TIOmarkets does not vet, endorse, or take responsibility for third-party products, signals, or developers available through the community.
Before purchasing any product from the MQL5 Market, consider testing it in the strategy tester or on a demo account first. Past performance on backtests does not guarantee future results. Read reviews and check the seller's history.
Before subscribing to a signal, review the signal provider's history, drawdown figures, and trading style. Be aware that copying signals automatically still carries the full risk of trading; signal subscribers can lose money.
Before commissioning custom development through Freelance, agree on clear specifications and use the platform's milestone payment system.
Practical Considerations
The MQL5 community is a MetaQuotes service. TIOmarkets provides the trading account, platform access, and execution; the community services and any third-party content are MetaQuotes-side.
If you have issues with an MQL5 community service (a product not working as advertised, a billing problem on a signal subscription, a Virtual Hosting issue), the resolution is via MetaQuotes support, not TIOmarkets.
Note that expert advisors are not permitted on accounts using the unlimited leverage feature on the Standard account. If you use EAs from the MQL5 Market, ensure your account configuration is compatible.
Orders are executed at the best available market price, which may result in positive or negative slippage. Demo accounts often execute instantly and may not fully replicate live slippage conditions. Spreads are variable and are typically higher than minimum figures shown. Leverage on each instrument is subject to change depending on market conditions and applicable regulatory requirements.
Trading at TIOmarkets
TIOmarkets offers MetaTrader 5 and MetaTrader 4 on desktop, web, and mobile, across four account types. The Standard account is created automatically on registration with a minimum deposit of $20 or currency equivalent. The Raw and VIP Black accounts are opened separately through the client area. The Nano account is MT5 only with a $20 minimum deposit, USD only. Hedging is supported on all accounts. A swap-free Islamic account is available; contact TIOmarkets for eligibility and instrument requirements. Copy trading is available on both MT4 and MT5.
